Serafina Lombardi is the director of Education and Outreach at the New Mexico Acequia Association, and assists with the implementation of their Sembradores Farmer Training Program. She is dedicated to sharing information and strategies with acequias to increase their resilience and continue building the movement en defends del agua. She comes from a long line of subsistence agriculturalists and farms with her family in Chimayó. She is the past chair of the Santa Fe Farmers Market, a founding member of the Cosecha del Norte Coop, a mother and step-mother helping to raise the next generation of acequieros.
Plenary Panel
As part of a panel with Casey Holland, Patrick Jaramillo, and Dan Waldvogle, Serafina will highlight the importance of our next generation of farmers in keeping our local traditions alive, protecting water rights, while building economic and food security for our rural communities during times of change.
