Successful fruit production can’t be confined to managing pests or finding the right fertility practice. Selecting the appropriate varieties, understanding and managing the structure of your trees, achieving good pollination, siting, and many other factors also enter in. All need to be considered together to achieve a healthy and happy orchard! This one-day workshop will take place at the Goetsch Family Farm/Cherry Valley Farm, which has an old orchard that’s being expanded with new trees. We’ll talk about holistic orchard management, focusing on pruning old trees and planting young trees in an established orchard, and also habitat planting in riparian areas.
Tools, gloves, and handouts will be provided during the workshop. Attendees will be responsible for providing their own lunch and water.
