CULTIVATING HOMEGROUND – A New Era of Conservation in the American West

September 4, 2024 @ 12:00 am - January 5, 2025 @ 12:00 am

September 19, 2024 – January 5, 2025 | 8 a.m. – 5 p.m. daily

CULTIVATING HOMEGROUND, a photography exhibition, will open Thursday, September 19, 2024, in the gallery space at Co-Fe, Santa Fe’s premier collaborative workspace, located in the heart of Santa Fe’s downtown Guadalupe Street/Railyard District. The exhibition features the work of photographer Sally Thomson and highlights the efforts of two organizations dedicated to supporting resilience and stewardship on Western working rangelands: the Western Landowners Alliance and Quivira Coalition. Both organizations have a strong local presence in Santa Fe but work across the West.

CULTIVATING HOMEGROUND explores the vast rangelands that makeup over one-third of our country’s land mass and the people dedicated to transforming how we care for that land. The exhibit features photographs and text, some from Thomson’s 2023 book, and aims to raise awareness and support for initiatives shaping the region’s underappreciated rangeland ecosystems.

What a treat to be able to highlight those farmers, ranchers, and land stewards who are doing amazing work across the West in Sally’s photographs. We hope this exhibit will inspire the community to embrace regenerative agriculture as a crucial piece of our food systems, our land stewardship, and our solutions to climate change. – Sarah Wentzel-Fisher
