Introduction to Static Aerated Pile Composting and Vermi-Composting

June 3, 2023 @ 9:00 am - 12:30 pm

Come learn about Static Aerated Pile Composting and Vermi-composting!

Join the Carbon Ranch Initiative team and Reunity Resources to learn how composting transforms waste into a valuable soil amendment! We’ll discuss how diverting organic waste from landfills to make compost plays a role in mitigating climate change, and improving nutrient and water cycles. Two compost methods will be considered: Static Aerated Pile Composting and Vermi-composting. You will also receive a copy of our Rural Dryland Composting book.

This workshop is funded through a grant focused on Mora County and Taos residents but open to the public. We will provide pre-paid gas cards to first-come-first-serve Mora and Taos residents to assist in round-trip travel to Santa Fe. Need for travel assistance can be communicated in the registration form.

Additionally, for registered participants (priority given to Mora and Taos community members) there will be some supplies available to help you start your own worm composting system at home. Materials include straw bales, worms, and a bucket (so bring a truck or a large vehicle and tarp if you want the straw bales).

Contact Janet with any questions at janet.garcia@quiviracoalition.org or ‪(505) 393-1254‬.
