What is the fellowship?
This fellowship will support participants who are passionate about implementing a small project but may not have the funding or partnerships to support it. Through conferences, monthly virtual gatherings, field days, and peer-to-peer learning, fellows will develop a project that strengthens climate resilience and builds community.Â
As part of the program, participants will receive a $1,000 stipend to support their participation. Some examples of projects participants can pursue include: implementing a regenerative or restoration practice, creating educational resources, or designing and hosting a workshop. The fellowship will be responsive to participants’ interests, challenges and priorities, so come with your ideas! By the end of the fellowship, participants will have begun to implement a project that addresses a climate concern in their community and/or operation.

Our Program
Who is eligible?
Ranchers, farmers, land stewards, and professionals or community members supporting agriculture and conservation in southern New Mexico are welcome to apply. This program is open to everyone, and is focused on individuals who have been or felt excluded from agriculture in the past, struggle financially, or come from underserved backgrounds in agricultural ownership and management. If you belong to a tribe, come from a farmworker background, are LGBTQ+, a beginning rancher, farmer, land steward, or college student, or are trying to start a life in agriculture, you are welcome to apply.
What does the program look like?
Over the course of six months, participants attend five virtual meetings, 1-3 individual check-ins with the program organizer, and 2-3 in-person field days. There is funding available to support travel for in-person events and conference attendance fees. Participants are required to attend all in-person events, including the REGENERATE Conference in Santa Fe from October 28-30, and Quivira’s 2027 Working Lands Summit, date and location TBD. At the end of the program, participants will have started a climate resilience project, as well as making connections and building community with like-minded land stewards.Â
