Position Title: Ranch Hand with WESTERN STATES RANCHES
Base Salary: $36,000 + DOE
Job Location – Colorado
Qualifications:
Two years livestock handling experience • Understanding of, and desire to implement, Holistic Management principles (grazing planning and management; decision-making, etc.) • Current driver’s license
Responsibilities –
Grazing and Forage Management :
- Participate in the creation and implementation of the Ranch’s grazing plans on multiple properties
- Utilize electric fencing to optimize animal and land performance
- Feed livestock as needed to achieve production goals
- Repair infrastructure as needed
Irrigation:
- Plan the application of irrigation on multiple properties, in conjunction with grazing management
- Implement the irrigation plan daily, maximizing the efficiency of irrigation water
Livestock Management
- Maintaining strong herd health by identifying sickness issues and treating animals
- Implementing the Ranch’s herd health program (e.g., mineral, supplementation, vaccinations)
Work Requirements-
- Able to regularly lift 50 lbs.
- Able to work long days outdoors in adverse weather conditions (snow, rain, sun, wind)
