Employment Law Basics with Farm Commons

December 5, 2022 @ 5:00 pm - 6:30 pm

Join us for a webinar with Farm Commons

Farm employment law feels intimidating but with just a few key rules and operating principles, the farm or ranch business can navigate this potential minefield with confidence. This webinar will teach the fundamentals of farm employment law including classifying workers and the obligations of every farm employer. Folks will learn where they need to learn more and where they can sit back with confidence, no matter where they are in their farming journey. Led by staff from Farm Commons, a nonprofit organization dedicated to empowering farmers to solve their own business law challenges in a community of support. To access their robust library of farm law print guides, podcasts, video tutorials, checklists, and more, visit www.farmcommons.org.

Instructor: Eva Moss is the Education Program Director at Farm Commons and leads educational curriculum development, ensuring that each workshop empowers the agricultural community with critical knowledge and skills. Eva has ancestral farming roots stretching from the island of Samoa to Southern Appalachia. She holds a Master’s degree in Food and Agriculture Law and Policy from Vermont Law School and a Bachelor’s degree in Anthropology from Sewanee: The University of the South. She has taught food policy courses at Guilford College for the Sustainable Food Systems department and has operated her own small farm business in central North Carolina. She is passionate about guiding farmers and ranchers nationwide through Farm Commons programming, connecting them with knowledge and tools that cultivate healthy farm business relationships.
