Join us for a great day of landscape assessment, monitoring, and building at the Badger Creek Ranch! This workshop is perfect for ranchers, land managers, students, or anyone looking to learn new land management methods. Tools will be provided the day of the workshop. Attendees can bring their own lunch or pay $10 to have lunch provided. Attendees are welcome to camp the night prior to the workshop and will be responsible for dinner that evening and camping gear.

Topics

Erosion Control with Aaron Kauffman, Southwest Urban Hydrology, LLC
Participants will build erosion control structures through hands-on instruction and learn how to read the landscape to better understand surface water flow and the erosion process.

Ecological Monitoring with Kelli Parker, Coldharbour Regenerative Network
Participants will learn essential concepts in holistic ecological monitoring and practice a basic monitoring protocol. The basic procedure enables land stewards to gather enough information to keep management on track. Upon completion of this training, participants will have thorough comprehension of the following concepts: how ecological monitoring fits in to Holistic Management, the importance of monitoring and how it is used to identify land trends, the seasonality of monitoring, the four main ecosystem processes and their key land health indicators, soil capping, interpreting plant forms, species identification, the significance of living organisms to community dynamics, and how to implement holistic ecological monitoring on your operation.
