New Agrarian Program Northern Plains Coordinator
Caroline comes to Quivira by way of ranching, having spent her previous four years working for Oxbow Cattle Company in Montana. Prior to that she worked on sheep and beef stations in Australia, New Zealand, the Falkland Islands, Finland, and Colorado. Raised in rural Ohio, she grew up seeing the countryside from the back of a horse and competed in nearly every discipline, from eventing to polo. She received her bachelor’s degree in Environmental Studies at Bates College, where she was a varsity swimmer and rower, and helped Bates win its first NCAA Division III Rowing National Championship. After college she was awarded the Thomas J. Watson Fellowship, allowing her to spend 2015/2016 abroad working on ranches in remote places and extreme environments. In 2019 she received a Fulbright Award to pursue a master’s degree in Agribusiness at Lincoln University in New Zealand which has been deferred. Caroline is excited to continue building her life in Montana and fostering connections between ranchers and apprentices. In her free time she can be found exploring the beauty of the Montana outdoors with friends and her dog Tilley.
