Clarence Burch Awards

2015 Call for Applications/Nominations
Thanks to Andy Dunigan and the Dunigan Family, we are pleased to have offered the $20,000 Burch Award for 14 years.

The award, chosen by the Quivira Coalition Board of Directors, is presented at our Annual Conference to an outstanding land management steward that can include individuals, organizations or projects directed by an organization within the conservation or ranching communities.

By all accounts, Clarence Burch was a remarkable man. Rancher, teacher, conservationist, activist, international diplomat and public servant to five governors, Clarence Burch lived an enviable career full of innovation, dedication, curiosity, and good humor. He was a man very much of his time, and yet miles ahead of it as well.

Perhaps Andy Dunigan sums up his grandfather's qualities best: "Clarence embodied what we call today `The Radical Center.' He was more than just a rancher. He was a public servant, an activist, and a man very concerned about the land and sustainable practices. He was a remarkable man."

The 14th Clarence Burch Award "special" winner has been determined by our Board of Directors. The application process is no longer open. It will be announced soon and presented at a dinner ceremony, Thursday evening, November 12, during the 2015 Quivira Conference in Albuquerque, New Mexico.
